In talking with some friends, I have realized that every year, more and more of "God" is being forced to disappear. It really just started as a small news story here and there. But now it seems to be a mainstream movement. There is a group of Atheists out there who feel it is their mission to remove any and all visible figures, sayings, quotes and imagery of Christ, the Ten Commandments, God, religion in any pretext and now holiday decorations. This is just my opinion, but what gives them the right to dictate that we have to hide symbols, icons and texts of our individual faiths??? Now I have friends of many different religious beliefs. Some believe, some don't and some believe differently than me. But we can all appreciate that we believe differently and leave it at that. Sometimes we discuss the differences but only to share our views and understand someone else's. This atheist group on the other hand is a whole new kind of cattle. They claim it is being shoved down their throats and they don't want that influence on their kids. To hear them tell it, it is a marriage of church and state. Go read your history. The separation of church and state is NOT how you are trying to make it out to be. The whole concept of it was mentioned in a mere letter by Thomas Jefferson. Let's move on to something I don't like. I don't like porn but I see it everywhere I go. Difference between me and them??? I am strong enough in who I am not to let the porn advertising influence my views, my thoughts or my life. As for my faith, I am strong enough in who I am that someone's lack of faith and vendetta against religious displays won't deter me from believing and practicing my belief. What is their excuse? Why are atheists so threatened by a simple "Merry Christmas" or a nativity scene? Why do they feel so threatened that they seek out religious symbols around the country and bring frivolous lawsuits to try to have said imagery forcibly taken down? What's next on their agenda: Will they begin to sue Christian radio stations for playing Christian music or try to sue Christmas companies for making religious decorations??? When will their madness end??? If you don't like someone's faith, or their actions for displaying that faith, why not just leave them alone? Keep walking, stop looking for reasons to advertise to the world how miserable you are because we believe in something and want to share it with others.. If you don't like the nativity scenes, then stay home and don't celebrate the holidays. Don't come over to a Christmas party and bitch, whine, moan and complain that everyone is saying "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays"... You claim that you don't want the undue influence?? Well, if a simple plastic nativity scene or the words Merry Christmas, or even the ten commandments are enough to influence you, then maybe you are not as strong in your beliefs as you like to think. That's time for some serious reevaluation about the core of what you believe in and what you stand for. I don't go through great lengths to stay away from your non-believing ways, so why are you going through such great lengths to try and force believers to hide their ways??? Now I don't believe in every religion out there. Some I even have an issue with. I just leave them alone and go about my business. So I will close in saying this: I'm going to make cookies, sit down and read my Bible. I would offer some to the atheists out there, but they wouldn't like them. They will be in shapes of crosses and CHRISTmas trees. So to all of you, Merry Christmas and while I will pray about you, I will also pray you give up this ridiculous vendetta against something you don't believe in anyway so that maybe you can be more constructive with your efforts and leave us believers to believe in something worth it.
